Kicking off our Xmas Advent Calendar was always going to be a tough one, but here are 4 tough young lads from the north who can handle it!

From Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, allow us to introduce... EVILE

EVILE appeared to fill the void left by Emo and alternative/Indie bands becoming the new face of rock. They wanted the music to sound like their favourite bands. Names like Anthrax, Exodus, Metallica and Annhilator, who, a generation ago, took a new breed of metal to the masses and forged a genre known as Thrash!

Playing their arses off, they finally came to the attention of Earache Records, who realised that EVILE were hungry and had a passion for their music which made them stand out from the crowd. Signing them immediately, Earache sent them off to the Netherlands to record their debut album with none other than Flemming Rasmussen of Metallica Fame!

Flemming was mentioned in our first ever meeting with Earache, when we were talking about our first album. It was originally just kind of laughed off, as there's no way Flemming would ever produce an unknown thrash band, when he'll probably be asking a 6 figure sum. At one point in the last year Matt thought he'd randomly send Flemming a few of our MP3s to see what he thought. He received a "sounds awesome!" etc, but nothing more. We heard nothing more from him, further confirming our assumption he'd not work with a band like us. Then the time came to approach producers. Flemming was mentioned as a joke, but after a phone call to the man himself, he just said he loves our stuff and would love to work with us.

'Enter The Grave' was released in August 2007 to critical acclaim. It shot EVILE into the big time and set the measure by which others would be tried. This is UK Thrash at its best, and was rightly hailed as "the best UK Thrash debut since Sabbat’s History Of A Time To Come!" Huge Praise indeed! In December 2007, EVILE will be appearing in GET IN THE RING 2 in association with Rockworld TV and Metal Hammer Magazine. So, for outstanding work in the department of opening up the underground and helping to bring Thrash back to the fore, we celebrate EVILE as our first band of the 2007 Advent Calender. Over to Oli Drake for the last word...

2008 will be a busy year for us. We've got a lot planned. Don't want to spoil any surprises though, you'll just have to see! I won't mention that tour with Girls Aloud........oh no!
